Using Videos

Video Resource platforms usually have a "Frequently Asked Questions" or "Help" section to guide their users.  We've put a few links that might be particularly helpful here, and you can look at our "Helpful Videos" or Youtube Channel for more.  Don't forget that you can call or email us if you're really stuck!

Video Help

    • Select the slide you want the video on.
    • Select the "Insert" tab and select "Online Video"
    • You should see a bar that looks like this:
    • Open Youtube and find the video you want to use
    • Select the "Share" button under the video
    • Select "Embed" from the following pop up menu
    • Copy the embed code
    • Paste into Powerpoint bar
    • You're video is now embeded in your Powerpoint!  Make sure to test it out though!  To do that, you need to click on the slideshow button on the lower right side of the screen.
    • Some videos will not play due to privacy restrictions that the original poster placed on the video.

All Canvas account holders (instructors / staff / students) can embed a YouTube video into any Canvas text box (Announcements / Pages / Syllabus / Assignments / Discussions / Quizzes).

Go to the Canvas text box, place your cursor in the text box where you want the video embedded and click the YouTube Video icon.

This displays the YouTube Search panel.

Enter text in the search box and press Enter (Return) on your keyboard.

This displays the YouTube search results for your query.

Click "Embed" for the YouTube video you want to embed in the text box.

This embeds the video and returns the display to the Canvas text box.

Click Save/Publish/Post.

This saves the text box with the embedded video.
